Kickout is a Contract

Most cash drawers open via a signal from the receipt printer. If you change printer models without checking kickout compatibility, drawers fail silently at open.

What to Document

  • Connector type and pinout notes from the datasheet
  • Whether the drawer is printer-driven or USB/serial controlled
  • Lock keying standard for the estate

Evaluation Tip

During pilot, open and close the drawer under the same POS software build used in production. Archive firmware and driver versions with the lane BOM.
