Start with the Output

Receipt printers and label printers both use thermal technology, but they solve different jobs. If the output is a tear-off customer receipt, start with receipt models. If the output is adhesive shipping, shelf, or compliance labels, start with label models.

Decision Criteria

CriterionReceipt pathLabel path
MediaContinuous thermal rollDie-cut or continuous label stock
Typical width58 mm / 80 mmApplication-specific widths
CutterAuto or manual tearOften peeler / cutter options
PlacementUnder counter, kitchen, service deskPacking station, backroom, line side

Shared IT Concerns

Regardless of path, standardize:

  1. Host interfaces (USB, Ethernet, serial as required)
  2. Driver and firmware versions archived at image freeze
  3. Media SKUs documented for replenishment

Browse receipt printers and POS printers, then open model download pages from the Drivers Center.

Next Step

When volumes and media sizes are known, request quotation with site count and preferred interfaces.
